The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen

Start Over

On the photo to the left you can see the impressive greenhouse in the Botanical Garden in Copenhagen. The photo was taken in october 2004.
The first 40 photos in the slideshow were taken on the same day in october 2004. It was a very bright autumn day with no winds blowing, so the beautiful colours in the garden are almost exploding and reflected in the lakes without distortions.
The photos from number 40 to 55 are all taken at springtime 2004. Here you can see the stonehill with the rock gardens.
All the photos were taken with a CanonPowerShot G5.

The Botanic Garden displays Denmark's largest collection of living plants and houses the only gene bank for wild species. Thus the Botanic Garden differs significantly from the other museums of the University and from the public parks of the city of Copenhagen.

The first Botanic Garden of the University of Copenhagen was founded in the central part of the old city in 1600AD. The present Botanic Garden, the fourth in the succession of university gardens, was established in 1872 on the former fortifications area of the city. The rock gardens and other higher areas are part of the old ramparts, while the lake is a remnant of the city moat.
